Hilly Streets and Sloped Yards
Rolling hills mean sloped driveways and yards that step down. Steep driveways need a good grip finish and careful drainage.
On a hilly lot the driveway may climb or drop from the street. Steep slabs need a broom finish or another grip texture. Terraced yards usually mean retaining walls, and any wall over 3 feet or with a surcharge needs a permit.
The County says Expansive clay soaks up water and swells, then shrinks as it dries. That movement can lift and crack slabs. is most common in the coastal plains, per its soils report. For walls and foundations, ask for a soils report.
