About Tierrasanta
Tierrasanta covers about 11 square miles on part of the former Camp Elliott. Most of it was built from the 1970s through the 1990s.
Mission Trails Regional Park makes up about half the planning area. Canyons wind through the community and split it into separate tracts. Murphy Canyon Navy housing is about one fifth of the homes.
The Tierrasanta community plan was adopted July 27, 1982. Read it on the City of San Diego community plan page.
Canyons That Drain to the Valley
Canyon systems border many lots. Rear slopes, drainage and walls come up often.
Canyon systems carry storm water off the mesas. A new slab should not send more water over a canyon edge than it already gets. Walls near the rim need drainage behind them.
The County says Expansive clay soaks up water and swells, then shrinks as it dries. That movement can lift and crack slabs. is most common in the coastal plains, per its soils report. For walls and foundations, ask for a soils report.
