The University community plan was adopted July 2024. Read it on the City of San Diego community plan page.
Mesa Tops and Canyon Edges
Most homes sit on mesa tops in the south. Canyon edges add slope on some lots.
Mesa top lots are mostly flat until they reach a canyon rim. Water running off a new slab needs a planned path that does not dump onto the slope. Walls near a rim often carry a surcharge from the yard above.
The County says Expansive clay soaks up water and swells, then shrinks as it dries. That movement can lift and crack slabs. is most common in the coastal plains, per its soils report. For walls and foundations, ask for a soils report.
