Mesa Tops and Canyon Edges
Older homes on a level mesa, with canyon edges at the sides. Old walks, steps and driveways need work that suits the house.
Mesa top lots are mostly flat until they reach a canyon rim. Water running off a new slab needs a planned path that does not dump onto the slope. Walls near a rim often carry a surcharge from the yard above.
The County says Expansive clay soaks up water and swells, then shrinks as it dries. That movement can lift and crack slabs. is most common in the coastal plains, per its soils report. For walls and foundations, ask for a soils report.
