About Rancho Bernardo

Rancho Bernardo is the northernmost home community in the city. It is centered on Interstate 15, just south of Hodges Reservoir and the San Pasqual Valley.

It covers about 6,511 acres. The city calls it a master planned community with private parks and clubs for each neighborhood.

The Rancho Bernardo community plan was adopted March 28, 1978, with an update under way. Read it on the City of San Diego community plan page.

Master planned tracts are built on graded pads. The flat part of the lot is usually solid, but fill slopes at the edges can settle. Keep new slabs and walls off the top of a slope unless an engineer has looked at it.
